The problem: damaged by a treatment at another salon
This client came to me from China. Earlier this year, in March, she had a “hair quality improvement” treatment at another salon. Instead of improving her hair, it left it badly damaged — dry, rough and breaking. I’ll be honest with you, because that matters more than a sales pitch: her hair was too damaged to fully repair in a single visit. Her scalp had also become sensitive and easily irritated.
So we didn’t rush. We made a plan to bring her hair back to health, step by step.
My approach: repair first, and gentle on the scalp
Three things, each chosen specifically for damaged hair and a sensitive scalp:
1. Cut
I started by removing the most damaged ends. There’s no point treating hair that has already broken — a clean, balanced cut lets the repair work focus on hair that can actually recover.
2. Organic color
Because her scalp had become sensitive, I chose an organic color instead of a standard dye. It is far gentler on the scalp and skin, with much less irritation, while still giving rich, natural tone and shine.
3. Keratin & collagen treatment
This is the heart of the repair. I used undiluted keratin and collagen serums to rebuild the hair from the inside — restoring the internal structure that the previous treatment had stripped away. Keratin and collagen are the proteins healthy hair is built from, so this targets the cause of the damage, not just the surface.

Before & after — cut, organic color & keratin treatment
The result so far
Already, her hair is smoother, softer and noticeably shinier than when she arrived — you can see it in the before and after. But I want to stay honest: hair this damaged does not fully recover in one appointment. This is the beginning of a recovery plan, not an overnight miracle. With the right care, the condition will keep improving from here.

Healthier, shinier, easier to manage — and still improving
Home care I recommended
What you do at home matters as much as the salon work — especially for damaged hair. I asked her to use two products I trust and use myself in the salon:
Amatora Mezzoforte shampoo at home — gentle, and excellent for fine or weakened hair recovering from chemical damage. Read my honest review of Amatora Mezzoforte.
Kérastase Huile Chronologiste — “the black bottle” — before drying, to protect the hair from heat and add shine. Read my review of the Kérastase black bottle.
Next steps
She’s coming back in July. I’ll check how her hair and scalp have recovered, and design the next step of her plan from there. Real recovery is a process — and I’d rather do it properly than promise an overnight fix.
