Many clients ask me for a treatment that will “fix” their hair in one visit. With 20+ years of experience as a hairstylist, working one-on-one with every client, I explain it a little differently: healthy hair is not created in a single appointment. It is built over time, through the care you do at home and the treatments we choose together.

Hair Improvement Is a Long-Term Process
In Japan, people often talk about hair quality improvement (髪質改善). It is a useful idea, but it is easy to misunderstand. No single treatment completes it. The condition of your hair changes with your daily routine, the products you use, the weather, your chemical history, and the work we do together in the salon.
I also want to be honest about one thing: hair that has been damaged will not return completely to its original, untouched state. What we can do is reduce unnecessary further damage, support the hair you have, and keep it as healthy, soft and manageable as possible, one visit at a time.
Why I Care for Hair Before, During, and After Chemical Treatments
Straightening, bleach and color all change the structure of the hair. That is why I do not think of care as something added at the end. I think about it at three stages:
- Before: a careful look at your hair, and a detailed conversation about your hair history, so the products and timing are chosen for you.
- During: choosing the right products and processing steps for your hair history, and avoiding unnecessary stress on the hair.
- After: clear guidance for home care, and a plan for what to do at your next visit.
Two clients can ask for the same service and need completely different approaches. Your previous color, bleach, heat styling and earlier straightening all matter. That is why I ask about them before every treatment, and why I keep working with the same clients over the long term. For home care after straightening, see my aftercare guide.
Professional Hair Protection with UNDER7 Powder Plex
UNDER7 Powder Plex is one of the professional products I use in my own work. It is an important part of how I keep treatment quality consistent. I currently use the types other than SUPER RED, and I combine them with Japanese hair straightening products or X Treatment, depending on what the hair needs.
Two types matter most in my daily work:
- WHITE: I use it mainly for bleach services. In my experience, I notice less breakage and fewer split ends. I have not noticed a big change in how much the bleach lifts.
- GOLD: I use it often because it is versatile, and I use it across many different services.
These are my own impressions from daily work. They are not scientifically confirmed effects and not guarantees. Results depend on your hair, your history and the service. I do not promise that damage can be completely prevented, and I do not share mixing details, because the right approach changes from client to client.
How X Treatment Fits Into My Approach
X Treatment is another professional product I rely on. I use it to improve the feel and manageability of the hair, and I adjust the treatment to the level of damage and dryness. When it makes sense, I combine it with other care products.
But no single treatment makes hair healthy on its own. What matters is not the product name. It is the combination of a proper assessment of your hair and a treatment chosen for that hair.
Japanese Hair Straightening and Long-Term Hair Care
Japanese Hair Straightening is where this philosophy matters most. I focus on acid-based straightening, and I choose the products and processing steps according to your hair history. Straightening is not only about making hair straight on the day. It is about how your hair looks and feels in the weeks and months afterward, and how it responds to your next visit.
If you want to see how it works at my salon, read Japanese Hair Straightening in Tokyo, the complete guide, or real before and after results. For bleached or already damaged hair, these cases show how I approach it: bleached blonde hair and damaged bleached hair.
How Hair Care Needs Change with Age
Hair changes as we get older. Strands can become finer or coarser, waves and frizz can change, hair can feel drier, and gray hair often has a different texture. A routine that worked in your twenties may not be right in your forties.
That is another reason I prefer long-term relationships. When I see your hair regularly, I can notice these changes early and adjust the treatment, instead of repeating the same service every time.
My Philosophy: Beautiful Hair Is Built Over Time
I do not believe in a miracle treatment. I believe in careful assessment, gentle choices, good home care and patience. Beautiful hair is the result of many small, consistent decisions, made by you and by me.
