A holiday refresh on fragile hair
This client came to see me while travelling through Tokyo from the Philippines. She wanted a cut and a fresh color to enjoy on her trip — but her hair was already quite damaged, so colouring it carelessly would only have made things worse. My job was to give her the change she wanted while protecting the hair she has.
How I approached it
Nourishing color. I chose a color formula infused with protein, so her hair was strengthened and fed at the same time it was coloured — rather than being stripped and dried out by the process.
X Treatment. On top of that, a deep multi-step protein treatment that rebuilds damaged hair from within — restoring softness, elasticity and a lasting, glassy shine.
A refining cut. Finally, a cut to remove the driest ends and shape the style, so the new colour falls cleanly and catches the light.

Before & after — damaged hair to a soft, glossy finish

The finished color — healthy shine and softness
The result
Despite starting from very damaged hair, the finish came out glossy, soft and full of movement — and my client left genuinely happy, ready to enjoy the rest of her trip. It’s the proof I always come back to: with the right chemistry and a careful hand, you don’t have to choose between colour and healthy hair.
Nervous about colouring damaged hair? That’s exactly the kind of case I plan carefully — see my hair color guide and keratin & repair guide, or more Filipino client transformations.
