Frequently asked questions
Can tourists book an appointment?
Yes. I welcome visitors to Japan as well as people living here — many of my clients come to me while travelling in Tokyo. There are no special conditions. I do recommend sending me photos of your hair and your hair history on WhatsApp beforehand, so I can plan the right treatment before you arrive.
How quickly will you reply?
I reply as soon as I can. Because I work one-to-one with each client, I may not be able to answer immediately while I’m with someone — but your message won’t be forgotten, and I’ll get back to you.
What if I don’t remember my full hair history?
That’s completely fine — you don’t need perfect records. Just tell me what you can remember (roughly when you last colored, bleached, or straightened your hair), and send photos. I can read a great deal from the hair itself, and I’ll assess the rest in person before we start.
How long does acid straightening take?
Usually about 3 to 4 hours. The exact time depends on your hair’s length, thickness, condition, and treatment history — I’ll give you a clearer estimate once I’ve seen your photos.
What photos should I send before booking?
Two or three photos are enough:
• One from behind, showing your hair overall
• One from the side
• A close-up of the frizz or damage that bothers you
Please photograph your hair dry and in its natural state — not freshly flat-ironed straight, as that hides the texture I need to see.
Can my hair be straightened if it’s bleached or colored?
Often yes, but it depends on the condition. Bleached hair is fragile, so I assess the damage carefully and select the chemical strength to match — see a real case here. If I don’t think it’s safe, I’ll tell you honestly rather than risk your hair.
Where is the salon, and do you speak English?
I work in Ginza, Tokyo (Tuesday–Sunday) and in Yokohama on Mondays. The entire appointment — consultation, treatment and aftercare advice — is available in English, 日本語 or 中文. I’ll send you the exact location when we confirm your booking.
How much will it cost?
Japanese Acid Hair Straightening is ¥33,000 and a haircut is ¥11,000. You can see every service on my pricing page. Once I’ve seen your photos, I’ll confirm the exact price before you book — no surprises.
Worried about explaining your hair in Japanese?
You don’t need to. Show me photos of your hair and any inspiration photos of the look you want — that’s all I need to understand you.
