Amatora Mezzoforte Review: The Shampoo I Recommend for Fine Hair After Straightening

SBCP Raw Mineral is my go-to recommendation after straightening for most clients. But for clients with fine or softer hair who want a lighter result, Amatora Mezzoforte is the one I reach for instead.

What Makes Amatora Mezzoforte Different

Most shampoos — including many quality ones — focus on moisture. Amatora Mezzoforte focuses on structure. The formula’s key active ingredient is hematin, a compound with a molecular structure similar to keratin that bonds to damaged sections of the hair shaft and helps rebuild from within.

Hematin also helps neutralize alkaline residue from chemical treatments — including straightening — and has been studied for its effect on pigmentation and gray hair prevention. It’s an unusual ingredient in a consumer shampoo, and it’s one of the reasons this formula produces results that feel different from standard conditioning shampoos.

• Clients with mild scalp sensitivity — The amino acid base is gentle enough for sensitive scalps.

How to Use It for Best Results

The key step most people miss: after building a lather, leave it on for 3 minutes before rinsing. Amatora Mezzoforte is designed to condition while it cleans. The hematin and collagen need contact time to work — skipping this step reduces the results significantly.

Use 38°C water — not hot. Hot water strips what the formula is trying to deliver. A brief cool rinse at the end adds noticeable shine.

My Verdict

Amatora Mezzoforte is a specialist product for a specific need: fine hair that needs structural repair with a light finish. For that client, it’s the best option I’ve found. The hematin formula is genuinely unusual, and the results over 4–6 weeks of consistent use are consistently good.
