“Professional recommendation❗️Tips for maintaining beautiful hair”

Hair Care Tips

Hi, I’m Kenji — a hairstylist based in Ginza, Tokyo, with 23 years of experience and over 30,000 clients served.

I specialize in cuts and hair straightening for both Japanese and international clients, and I’m known for treatments that work with your hair’s long-term health — not just the look of the day.

Today, I’m sharing the home care routine I personally recommend to my clients. Follow these steps and you’ll notice a real difference within a few weeks.

Step 1: Shampoo — The Foundation of Beautiful Hair

Most people rush through shampooing. But this step sets the tone for everything else.

How to shampoo properly:

  1. Pre-rinse for 1 minute with water at 38°C — this removes surface dirt and opens the cuticle gently
  2. Squeeze out excess water before applying shampoo
  3. Apply shampoo to your scalp (not the ends) and build a lather by massaging in small circular motions — adding a little air as you go
  4. Spread the lather down to the ends of your hair
  5. Leave it on for 3–5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly for at least 2 minutes

💡 The scalp is where hair health begins. Don’t rush this step.

Recommended product: SBCP Raw Mineral Shampoo & Treatment (Amazon) — amino acid-based, silicone-free, great for curly and aging hair.

Step 2: In-Shower Treatment — Restore and Nourish

How to apply treatment properly:

  1. After towel-drying, apply treatment first to the ends — the most damaged part
  2. Massage with both hands until the texture softens
  3. With the remainder on your hands, apply to your bangs and the top of your hair, then comb through
  4. While the treatment sits, apply scalp treatment to your scalp and massage gently
  5. Leave for 3–5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly

💡 Beautiful hair grows from a healthy scalp. Don’t skip the scalp massage.

Step 3: Out-of-Bath Treatment — Protect Before Heat

This step is what most people miss — and it makes a huge difference.

  1. Before blow-drying, apply a scalp lotion and massage it in
  2. Apply hair oil or milk to the ends, then brush and begin drying
  3. When your hair is about 50% dry, apply oil to the ends again before finishing

Recommended product: Kérastase Huile Chronologiste Hair Oil (Amazon) — deeply nourishing, perfect for heat protection and shine.

💡 The key is applying oil when hair is still slightly damp — it absorbs better and the difference in softness is immediate.
